THE TRAVEL EDIT by Dr. VENETA

The French Riviera is where the Mediterranean meets elegant cafés, colourful old towns and spectacular coastal walks. Travelling with your dog here is surprisingly easy, with many restaurants, beaches and walking routes welcoming four-legged visitors. Whether you're enjoying an early morning coffee in Nice or watching the sunset in Saint-Tropez, every day becomes an adventure worth sharing.

PLACES TO VISIT

A narrow European alleyway.

Nice Old Town (Vieux Nice)

Beautiful narrow streets filled with pastel-coloured buildings, artisan
shops and cafés. Early mornings are peaceful and ideal for walking with your
dog before the city becomes busy.

Perfect for:

  • Morning walks
  • Coffee
  • Photography
  • Boutique shopping
Scenic coastal view with a pebble beach, blue sea, a paved road, palm trees, and buildings on a hillside under a bright sky with scattered clouds.

Promenade des Anglais

One of Europe's most iconic seafront promenades. Wide pavements make it
excellent for long dog walks while overlooking the Mediterranean.

Best time: Sunrise or sunset.

Èze Village

A medieval hilltop village overlooking the Riviera. Stone streets, flowers and breathtaking sea views make this one of the most photogenic destinations in France.

Ideal for:

  • Slow walking
  • Boutique shopping
  • Scenic photography

Port Grimaud

Often called the "Venice of Provence", Port Grimaud is known for colourful houses, canals and relaxed waterfront cafés. It's perfect for a leisurely afternoon with your dog and offers a quieter alternative to Saint-Tropez.

Riviera Villages  (Gulf of St Tropez)

Beyond the beaches and glamorous marinas, the French Riviera is home to charming hilltop villages, colourful harbours and peaceful streets where life moves at a slower pace. These are some of my favourite places to explore with a dog, offering beautiful walks, local cafés and unforgettable Mediterranean views.

Saint-Tropez

Luxury boutiques, yachts and cafés create the glamorous atmosphere the Riviera is famous for. Visit early in the morning for quieter streets and cooler temperatures for your dog.

DOG-FRIENDLY & HIDDEN BEACHES

Outdoor beachside lounge area with wooden deck seating, large white umbrellas, blue cushions, a central tree, and the blue sea and sky in the background.

Plage de la Lanterne

One of Nice's official dog-friendly beaches where dogs are welcome to swim. The beach is open year-round and provides a designated area for pets. Nice also maintains other authorised dog beaches in the region.

A coastal metal signpost at the beach featuring a white surfboard-shaped bird figure with orange accents, above directional signs, set against a rocky shoreline and blue sea under a clear sky.

Plage de Lenval

Itis where the French Riviera truly welcomes four-legged travellers. Set along the iconic Promenade des Anglais, this dedicated dog beach is the perfect place for your companion to stretch their legs, splash in the sea and meet local canine friends. Look out for the two distinctive "Totor" dog sculptures, a charming landmark celebrating Nice's pet-friendly spirit.

A scenic coastal view of clear turquoise water with several people paddleboarding on the beach, with rocky shoreline and boats in the background.

Plage de l'Escalet

Crystal-clear turquoise water surrounded by natural scenery near Ramatuelle. One of the Riviera's most beautiful beaches, ideal for early morning walks before the crowds arrive.

DOG-FRIENDLY DINNING

Full Bloom

The concept store café dedicated to dogs.

This is the must-visit spot in the Port district where your dog is the star. We love this unique place that cleverly combines a store section – shopping for ultra-stylish accessories for your pet – with a food area to enjoy a sweet or savoury treat. Settle in with a latte while your dog enjoys a warm, attentive welcome at Full Bloom in an ultra-cosy atmosphere.

Brasserie Gioffredo

Located in the heart of Nice, Brasserie Gioffredo is a welcoming place to pause with your dog after exploring the city's elegant streets. Whether you're enjoying breakfast, lunch or an evening meal, it's the perfect spot to relax together and soak up the vibrant atmosphere of the French Riviera.

Oka

The restaurant that pampers dogs too. Here, they don’t just bring a refreshment for your four-legged companion. The restaurant Oka offers a true culinary touch: the “Okanin” menu! Your dog can choose between a salmon omelette or specially prepared chicken. A real shared feast, with no one left out!

Bclub Rooftop

Take in panoramic views over Nice from the stylish Bclub Rooftop. It's an ideal place to unwind after a day of exploring the coastline with your dog, enjoying a drink while the city glows beneath you at sunset.

An outdoor patio seating area at dusk with white lounge chairs, small tables, string lights, and a restaurant interior visible on the left, alongside a glass-walled walkway overlooking a street scene.

Les Mimosas du Cours

A refreshing ice cream break. This is the must-know “cool spot” on Cours Saleya. As sunny days return, stop by Les Mimosas du Cours to treat your companion to an ice cream specially made for dogs. The perfect way to help them beat the heat while sharing a delicious moment together.

A bright, stylishly decorated restaurant interior with blue pendant lights, a large blue French door, terracotta tile floors, and white tablecloths on dining tables.

La Barque Bleue

Overlooking the picturesque Port of Nice, La Barque Bleue has been welcoming guests for decades. After a stroll along the marina, settle in with your dog and enjoy fresh seafood, Mediterranean specialities or a relaxed lunch while watching boats drift in and out of the harbour.

THE JOURNEY DOESN'T END HERE...

The best trips aren't measured by the miles you travel, but by the moments you share. Whether you're exploring the French Riviera or discovering somewhere new, every adventure begins with good preparation and ends with unforgettable memories.
